At the turn of the century, J. Frank Hinkle was already on his own. A cowboy at the age of fourteen, he rode the dusty ranges of Texas and Oklahoma.

Some years later, "Daddy" Hinkle, as he'd come to be known, traded in his saddle for a suit. He put his boundless energy into settling another wild frontier of the times - the oil industry - wildcatting wells over the same western territory through which he'd moved his cattle.

Perhaps it was his pioneer spirit, or maybe his love of a good steak after a hard days work, that inspired "Daddy" Hinkle to create his seasonings and marinades. Everyone from roughneck oilmen to the cream of southern society, gave them rave reviews. They even started using "Daddy Hinkle's" special recipe on other cuts of meat, and on fish or fowl to capture the savory flavor of the west.

Our grandfather, J. Frank "Daddy" Hinkle understood hard work - he believed in doing things right the first time and making other things better. Although Daddy Hinkle is gone, we're proud to carry on his name, tradition and spirit by sharing his special recipes with your family. And we think he'd like that.
